risk not only coming out of europe, but also with the fiscal cliff negotiations. the bottom line is it's going to be very difficult to maneuver in tight spaces, so widen it out. for us that means in the s&p we want to pie 1340 to 1320, and as the market gets up to the 1430 area and above, we want to reduce our equity exposure. in the dow call it 12,5 to 13,5. in the nasdaq 100, 2400 to 2800. liz: okay, hold on. let me just hold on the s&p because that's what we have here. 1320 to 1340 buy in when it hits there, and can then, of course, sell. >> right. liz: so this requires real involvement on behalf of the investor, doesn't it? >> well, i -- the point is, liz, we, as i said, you've got a lot of headline risk, a lot of back and forth with the news stories. the point is to be disciplined. map those levels out, and then don't get caught in between. so i think if 1340 to 1320's a great place to add to your equity exposure, and then as we get up to the 1430 area and above, you want to reduce your equity exposure, and don't get caught in between. liz: sorry, i interrupted you because i wante

the fiscal cliff or do you think that judging from your seeing what this meeting behind closed doors now and as time comes down to the end that they will come up with a deal at the 11th hour? >> well, look, there's always that possibility that you know, they could go over the fiscal cliff, but you're right in pointing out that this is how it usually plays out is that everyone voicing optimism at the start. then there's a lot of rhetoric that's thrown around. both sides getting sort of dug in positions and then you start to get sort of this air of compromise. what we're sensing now is that there does appear to be this willingness on both sides to compromise. you hear democrats talking about entitlements, willing to back down on entitlements, and then some republicans talking about you know, some kind of increase in taxes for wealthy americans and so, that really is a starting point where both sides have been digging in now for weeks and the hope is that this, there could be some real movement this week. get this wrapped up before the fiscal cliff scenario plays out. >> all right, dan loth

, 27 days until the fiscal cliff. and i know you know that already, but guess what, folks? the deadline for congress and the white house to act, to stop the tax increase and punishing spending cuts, that deadline is coming up quicker than you may realize because did you know, congress plans to end its current session on december 21st? check your calendar as we did today. that's two weeks from friday. that means that under congressional rules any agreement, any legislation to fix this whole mess would have to be filed here by december 28th. here's the kicker. the president currently plans to leave town the day before that, on the 17th of this month. so the yearly obama trip to hawaii is set to start a week from next monday. you feel me here? see where i'm going? the window closing faster than folks think. what are our decisionmakers doing right now? among other things they are apparently sending signals through the media. republicans saying time to get moving. the president saying there is a deal to be had fairly quickly if the republicans come around to raising taxes on the wealthy. let
